  • Oldies Christmas do

Thank goodness today is over and done with for another year... It was our sheltered tenants christmas party and boy did it take some organising all to be over within 3 hours... We gave out invites took in replies, sold raffle tickets to over 600 tenants... Then arranged the catering, the venue and the entertainment and the transport... We brought 35 raffle prizes including hampers, with my artistic skills and some cellophane and ribbon they look really impressive ( well l thought they did).

The star guests were Elvis Wesley, Fannie get your gun (Me), Grace Shelley, Alan Enter-tain, A singing dancing christmas tree with flashing lights, The local school choir and of course Santa Claus.

I must admit it was fun and the sheltered tenants seemed to enjoy it. We plied them with loads of sherry and bucks fizz and of course cups of tea...

It took longer to clean up after than it did to prepare! but thats always the case isnt it.

When l got home my feet ached so much l had to soak them in a herbal tea bag to bring them back to life.

All l can say is thank goodness it's only once a year... but what the heck as long as they enjoyed it and went home with a memory.

  • Wind, Rain and Roads

I have not been blogging for a while... No excuse just didnt know what to write about... except woo is me stuff which would sound as if l was wingeing.

Tonight l have travelled 150 miles in my Soft Top Jeep... I do this journey often at the weekends but tonight was the worst road conditions l have ever encountered... It took me 40 minutes longer than usual. The wind was so bad l was grabbing hold of the steering wheel for fear of being blown over the other side of the road.

I stuck to 50 miles an hours and got caught behind every lorry travelling in the same direction... The tail wind from them was no joke. Boy was l pleased to get home...

I am definetly going to buy a different car... Mine is more like a beach buggy... Lovely for the summer or short journeys but not ideal for motorways and long hauls.
